►¡®Seminar on Cement Cleaner Production for Developing Countries¡¯ held
during May 22-June 11, 2009 in Beijing, China
Introduction
The seminar on
cement cleaner production for developing countries, organized by the
Ministry of Commerce, People¡¯s Republic of China, sponsored by China
Building Materials Academy.
About 24 representatives from 14 countries attended the conference,
coming from various government ministries and local departments in cement and environmental protection sector.
Outcome
-The energy
efficiency improvement and emissions reduction are the development trend
of cement industry. Realizing cement cleaner production and sustainable
development are pressing tasks that we have to confront. China, like
many other developing countries, has a large number of engineering
constructions with the rapid economy development. However, behind the
great economic and social achievements, our environment becomes
increasingly deteriorative as a result of high energy consumption and high
emission reduction. Chinese government has speed up the structural
adjustment of cement industry to improve energy efficiency and reduce
GHG emissions, and promote the sustainable, steady-going and
healthy development in cement sector.

-China Building Material
Academy(CBMA), with strong research ability, has accumulated abundant
experience and achieved significant results on cement cleaner
production. This seminar organized by CBMA aims to introduce general
situation of China cement industry development, cement production and
sustainable policy, theories and practices of cement cleaner production
to 24 officials from 14 developing countries. Through giving lecture by
Chinese government official and cement production experts and on-site
visiting in cement plants, officials from developing countries had
acquired related information about cement cleaner production and found
potential cooperation opportunities with Chinese cement enterprises. The
significance of this seminar is not only to set up a platform to enlarge China
cement industry¡¯ international impact, but also to state our government¡¯s
determination to take the responsibility to enhance energy saving
and reduce Green House Gas emissions as well as to help other developing
countries in cement cleaner production.
