Sino-Austral Workshop on Technology of Energy Saving and Emission Reduction in Cement Industry held from 26th Nov to 2nd Dec, 2010 in Australia
Chinese cement delegate, led by China Cement Association (CCA), visited Australia from 26th Nov to 2nd Dec, 2010 at the invitation of Cement Industry Federation of Australia (CIF) to participate Sino-Austral Workshop on Technology of Energy Saving and Emission Reduction in Cement Industry, organized by APP Cement Centre of Excellence (CoE) under the framework of Sino- Austral cooperation.
Under the lead of Mr. Kong Xiangzhong, General Secretary of CCA and member of APP Cement Task Force, other delegates included Mr. Liu Wenyan, Vice President of BBMG Corporation, Mr. Bao Wei, General Engineer of Hefei Cement Research and Design Institute, Prof. Lan Mingzhang, from School of Materials Science and Engineering of Beijing University of Technology, Ms. Li Juan, Senior Engineer of China Building Materials Academy and Secretariat of APP-CoE, and Mr. Yao Qin, Vice President of Nanfang Cement Company Limited. Both sides exchanged opinions in several aspects such as co-processing sludge from waste water treatment plant in cement kilns, eco-recycle of alternative fuels, new grinding technology and geopolymeric cement. In addition, the two sides had deep communication in accomplished work of APP Sino-Austral cooperation project-CoE respectively carried out by China and Australia in the past three years, policies and measures for cement industry¡¯s energy saving and emission reduction adopted by two countries and function of cement association between cement industry and government.
During the visit, officials, colleagues and experts from Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism, AUSTRALIA, Cement Industry Federation of Australia (CIF) and three local cement companies accompanied Chinese delegate to visit cement best practice programs funded by Australia government. Such as co-processing sludge from waste water treatment plant in cement kilns by Boral Cement Company located in Waurn Ponds, pretreatment of wastes from waste water treatment plant, Geocycle program in Australia Cement Company and technology and application of sustainable geopolymeric cement conducted by Commonwealth Scientific & Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO).
CIF is one of the best partners under the framework of APP for China. Through this visit, both sides have enhanced communication in Sino-Austral cement industry and promoted exchange and spread of energy saving and clean production practices. Mr. Kong Xiangzhong, General Secretary of CCA, has extended warm invitation to CIF to visit China at earliest convenience in next year.
